Thomas Lake Route (Challenging)
This is a wonderful and challenging route that ventures through a diverse array of lakes and rivers throughout the wilderness. The route will expose the group to many diverse lakes, rivers, and portages. This fifty-mile journey begins in Moose Lake and takes you northeast into Newfound Lake. From there you will portage east into Ensign Lake and travel the length of it until you travel through a chain of lakes to Thomas Lake. From Thomas Lake you will portage into Kiana Lake, which is notorious for it’s fishing and then into the north side of Lake Insula. From here you could rest or take a day trip through the Kawishiwi River into Fishdance Lake to view some very old Native American Pictographs. From the north side of Insula Lake you will head southwest and portage into Hudson Lake and then through a series of short portages on the Kawishiwi River into Lake Four. From Lake Four you will head west into Lake Three and Lake Two, taking advantage of the many great campsites, on our journey to the Lake One Landing.
